Sri Swami Satchidananda
Sri Swami Satchidananda (1914–2002) was a renowned spiritual teacher, yoga master, and the founder of Integral Yoga. Born in Tamil Nadu, India, he dedicated his life to promoting peace, harmony, and holistic well-being through the practice of yoga and meditation. His teachings emphasized that true health comes from balancing the body, mind, and spirit.
In 1966, he introduced Integral Yoga to the Western world, making ancient yogic wisdom accessible to people from all walks of life. His philosophy combines physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation, selfless service, and positive thinking to help individuals achieve inner peace and overall wellness.
Swami Satchidananda gained international recognition when he delivered the opening address at the famous Woodstock Music & Art Festival in 1969, where he inspired thousands with his message of unity and universal peace. He later established yoga centers, educational institutions, and retreat centers across the world, continuing his mission of fostering compassion, health, and spiritual growth.
